Artist-in-Residence

Katie Shepherd Christiansen is an artist, naturalist and educator, and editor of the book, The Artists Field Guide to Yellowstone. She’s inspired by the ability of art to connect humans to the natural world. In celebration of the 2020 opening of Jackson’s Astoria Hot Springs Park, Katie was awarded National Endowment for the Arts funding to create a permanent, interpretive natural history artwork welcoming visitors to the park. Her naturalist artwork and interpretive writing are also featured in protected areas in Bozeman, Boulder County, and Tennessee’s Wade Bourne Nature Center. Katie is Director of Conservation Strategy & Outreach at the Wild Foundation.
